Prof. Dr. Donald Lewis is currently affiliated with the University of San Francisco School of Management in the Greater Bay Area. He was foreign faculty at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) in Beijing prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. Since 2014, he has lectured, spoken widely, and published in Europe and the United States on many aspects of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. He has recently served as a legal consultant for the United Nations on digital trade and e-commerce reforms in South and Southeast Asia.
Prof. Lewis was previously on faculty at Stanford Law School and before that at The University of Hong Kong Faculty of Law. He specializes in Chinese law, Chinese trade and investment law, international trade and economic law, and international dispute resolution. He has acted as a coordinator and trainer for the WTO in the Asia-Pacific region, and as an expert witness in China-related litigation and arbitration on four continents, particularly in the U.S. federal courts. He speaks, types, and reads Mandarin Chinese.
